Let migrant children feel at home in Shanghai! C Xiao C visits the public welfare organization “Sunflower”
Children are the future and hope of a country. The healthy growth of children is inseparable from the parenting and accompaniment. Children living and living together with their parents are the basis for parents to nurture and accompany them in person.
As we all know, the number of migrant workers in my country is huge. For many migrant families, taking their children with them to become migrant children will face various difficulties in enrolling and further education in the city where they live; but if they are sent back to their “hometown” to become left-behind children, they cannot raise and accompany their children in person. growing up. For every family on the move, “moving” and “staying behind” are a dilemma.
Survey data shows that in 2020, the number of children of China’s floating population is about 130 million, more than 40% of the total number of children in China. Among them, the number of migrant children is 71.09 million. On average, 1 in every 4 children is a migrant child.
Strengthening the care and love for migrant children has become a social problem that needs to be solved urgently.
Sunflower is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing long-term, stable, diverse and high-quality community education services for the children of migrant workers aged 5-15 who have moved to Shanghai. Since its inception in 2003, Sunflower has provided more than 200,000 hours of services to more than 4,000 migrant children and their parents.
A few days ago, C Xiao C once again turned into a loving little angel, visited Sunflower, and had in-depth exchanges with the volunteers and children of the organization.
Communicate with children and distribute small gifts
A social reality is that most migrant children need to return to their birthplace to take the senior high school entrance examination due to various reasons before junior high school, or abandon the traditional senior high school entrance examination system and apply for vocational school secondary school instead.
But for migrant children, it is impossible to keep the city, and the countryside that cannot go back. After they get used to urban life, they return to their birthplace, the environment changes, and they can only live with their ancestors, or live with relatives, which has a great impact and impact on children’s psychology.
Sunflower’s volunteers told us that Sunflower tries to provide a “fair” educational environment for these migrant children, because these courses are fields that their parents’ education level and work would not involve, and for most migrant workers In other words, they also do not have this awareness to cultivate the next generation.
Children are learning music and other courses, as well as the certificates and awards the students have received
C Xiao C learned that there was a boy who studied in Sunflower for a period of time. When he applied for the school, he was particularly interested in the photography course he took before, so he chose to study photography as the direction of his future work. , which greatly broadens the horizons of children.
That’s exactly what Sunflower wanted. They expect that through the introduction of diverse educational resources and long-term companionship, every migrant child who has received their services for a long time can grow into an “optimistic, confident, honest and inclusive” future social builder and a “better self”.
In the process of contacting these children, their intelligence and simplicity deeply touched C Xiao C and others. Afterwards, we presented these children with small gifts, including personalized bags jointly customized by the CC-Link Association and Glico, a world-renowned enterprise, filled with small snacks, all using the CC-Link network and Mitsubishi Electric automation products Glico’s various delicious biscuits produced on the production line. Seeing these children’s sparkling eyes when they got the biscuits made C Xiao C and others feel that they had a particularly meaningful day.
Here, C Xiao C would like to thank Glico for its strong support. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Glico Group. Glico is committed to the corporate mission of “healthy every day, a fulfilling life”, and continues to provide “delicious and healthy” for all people related to Glico products.
Although the strength of one person and one institution may not be enough, for these individual migrant children, the benefits may be lifelong. Finally, C and C also want to appeal, let us pay more attention to the special group of migrant children, through the improvement of national policies and the support of the social environment, so that more children of the migrant population can enjoy fair and high-quality living in the cities where they live. , appropriate education, grow up safely and healthily, and be a better self.
